The 2012 Casa Marin Miramar Vineyard Syrah is a cool-climate, medium-bodied Chilean Syrah from the San Antonio Valley, characterized by its firm acidity, earthy and herbal notes (like bay leaf and curry), and flavors of red fruit (plum, blackberry) with accents of black pepper, cocoa, and even a hint of gunpowder. It offers a dense, brooding profile with a striking granitic crunch and savory, lingering finish, rather than being fruit-forward, and was aged for 18-24 months in French and American oak barrels.
